Ripon’s Outwood primary add to awards won

A Ripon-based primary academy has added to its number of awards after receiving the North Yorkshire Healthy Schools Silver Award.

Outwood Primary Academy Greystone, based on Quarry Moor Lane, received its latest award from North Yorkshire County Council and is one of only around 50 schools to be given the award.

The award four key themes, which are active lifestyles, emotional health & wellbeing, food in schools and personal, social & health education.

Alison Dunn, the Mental Health Wellbeing Champion at OPA Greystone and Lead for Healthy Schools, said: “The wellbeing of our pupils, staff and the wider community is of paramount importance therefore at the heart of everything that we do.

“Achieving this award is a fantastic affirmation of our commitment to developing a child centered approach to a healthy, safe, secure and caring environment where they can grow, flourish and achieve their full potential.

“Taking part in this programme has enhanced our commitment and focus among the whole school community.”

She added: “We believe we are richer for our engagement and participation, and we are now striving forward towards the Gold award in March 2021!”

This award for the primary academy follows on from it receiving the Gold Religious Education Quality Mark by the Religious Education Council for England and Wales, and Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
