Pupils' Valentine's Day fundraiser

Budding fundraisers from a North Yorkshire School have been raising money for a good cause by celebrating Valentine's Day with a twist.

Year 10 pupils from Cundall Manor School decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK by selling roses on Valentine’s day across the school.

The generous pupils raised £101 for the charity which helps fund research into lifesaving treatments for cancer patients.

One of the organisers, Niamh, said: “It felt good knowing that all our hard work was going to such a worthwhile cause.

“It was really nice to see people’s surprised faces when we delivered the flowers, especially when they didn’t know who it was from.”

Last week, some of the thoughtful pupils presented the cheque to local Cancer Research shop staff, Heather Raine and Sarah Gouge, who commended the girls’ efforts and generosity.
