Pupils get chance to shine in cricket day

All children took part in the Chance to Shine spirit of cricket assembly learning about the importance of playing fair, winning and loosing well and respecting officials and the opposition. Pupils and staff took part in a bowl off and the ball bounce challenge.

Pupils from Years 5 and 6 were joined by Paul Jeeves from the Yorkshire Post who talked to them about his role as a journalist covering different features related to cricket and the work of Taylors of Harrogate.

In the afternoon all 180 pupils took part in a host of batting, bowling and fielding challenges under the support and guidance of Chance to Shine coaches. Pupils were also joined by ex England wicket keeper and Ashes winner Matt Prior who provided expert tips and faced questions from pupils.

Paul Griffiths, Head Teacher for the Federation of Follifoot & Spofforth CE Primary Schools said: “Our pupils love their sport and we work hard to provide a wide range of inspirational experiences.”
