In pictures: New era for Friends of Queen Mary's School

Sociable occasions coupled with important fund-raising were on the timetable as parents of pupils at one of North Yorkshire's leading independent schools met to celebrate the relaunch of their organisation, the Friends of Queen Mary's.

Queen Mary’s School is based at Baldersby Park near Thirsk, the favourite home of the Railway King, George Hudson and around 46 Friends met recently (29th Sept) at The Angel Hotel in Topcliffe, for drinks followed by dinner. Members of staff and also the Head, Carole Cameron, were welcomed to the occasion.

The evening provided the ideal opportunity for the Friends’ Chairperson, Lisa Scales, to outline plans for the group’s future aimed at encouraging an inclusive and enjoyable way in which parents can get involved together with raising funds for the school and charities. And if the inaugural meeting was anything to go by, a good start has been made!

Queen Mary’s is a day and boarding school for girls from aged 2 – 16 years and for boys to aged 8 years. Founded in 1925, the school’s original home was at Duncombe Park near Helmsley and moved to Baldersby Park in 1985.
