Laptops donated to schools

As some schools are turning to online classes to help pupils learn through the Coronaviurs pandemic Knaresborough Rotary Club has donated ten laptops to local schools.

King James’s School in Knaresborough and Boroughbridge High School were given the computers to help students who could not afford technology, after striking a deal with Currys PC World.

The finance came from a generous legacy left to Rotary in Knaresborough by the late Alan Waugh, a retired teacher.

Rotary spokesman Brian Souter said: “This is exactly the sort of thing that Alan would have wanted his money to be spent on!”

Paul McIntosh, Acting Head at King James’s School said: “On behalf of the school, I offer our greatest thanks for this incredibly generous donation”.
