Nationally, pass rates are high, although the proportion of top A-level grades which accelerated during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 has fallen away slightly this year.

But North Yorkshire’s schools look set to record an impressive set of results once again.

Mr Jones had a message for any student worried they had not received the grades they required.

“To those who have not achieved the grades for which they hoped I would say this is not the end of the road and there are still many options for you to take," he said."Talk to parents and staff for advice and look across the whole spectrum of opportunities available to you.

“I also commend the teachers and staff in schools and colleges for their dedication to their students to help prepare them for these exams.

"I am sure the results mean just as much to the teachers as they do to the students.

“Well done to everyone. I wish the best of luck to students in whatever they decide to do.”
