Chance for students 
to see ideas take flight

The initiative, created in partnership with Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) and British Airways (BA), aims to develop secondary school students’ key employability skills, including team-building and communication.

The Airline Masterclass programme allows students to set up and run their own airline, from designing a crew uniform, logo and tail-fin to choosing their flight destination and ticket prices.

Schools can take part until the beginning of July, with the regional Yorkshire and the Humber competition held on July 16.

The first prize will be a return BA flight from LBA to Heathrow with a tour of the airport and lunch. Runners-up will receive a guided tour of LBA. The most entrepreneurial student will be awarded a one-week summer work experience placement at LBA.

Julia Fallowfield, Young Enterprise regional manager, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity that offers young people the chance to develop their employability skills and at the same time win some fantastic prizes.

“I hope that as many secondary schools and colleges as possible take up this challenge.”
