Children returned from home learning over the internet to classrooms, a move embraced by many parents and teachers as well as children.

Caroline Towler, headteacher at Tadcaster Primary Academy, said: “It was wonderful to see our whole school team back together again on Monday morning.

“We missed the children learning at home such a lot over the last few months so to see their smiles, and them having fun in class and on the playground with their friends it definitely lifted all our staff team’s spirits.

“We are so proud of the children for showing resilience over what we know has been a tough few months. We are also extremely thankful for our parent community who have been a great support.

“No amount of video lessons and home learning activities can replace the children being in class with their peers and teachers where they belong.

“We look forward to the journey over the coming months - loving the time being back together as one big school family.”
