Deal finalised on Knaresborough new homes site

A land deal has been finalised by housebuilder Persimmon Homes which will bring 74 new homes to Knaresborough.

The 6.25-acre site, off Halfpenny Lane, will include 30 affordable properties, areas of green space and a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes in the deal which will also bring £500,000 of community investment.

A spokesman for Persimmon said: “Financial contributions will include £238,000 toward improvements at Meadowside Community Primary School and £65,000 to support strategic highways improvements.

“A further £134,000 will go towards improvements at Stockwell Allotments, St John the Baptist Churchyard, Jacob Smith Park and King George V Field recreation ground and skate park.”

Scott Waters, managing director for Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said the company was pleased to be able to progress the Orchard Gardens development.

“The site has been carefully designed to meet the needs of the local market,” he said.

“Located to the north east of the picturesque market town, the development is well placed for access to Harrogate, Leeds and York, so we expect there to be plenty of interest when we are able to release properties for sale.”

Work has begun on the site’s infrastructure and the Persimmon Homes team is working towards releasing its first homes in autumn this year.

“As part of our ongoing strategic development across Yorkshire, we are continually looking to expand our construction workforce and explore new land opportunities,” added Scott.
