“The awards are a very important thing for the business community in the district, and as a business that itself is only two years old, the Best Newcomer category could not be more appropriate,” said Ms Ferriday.

“If any business out there is thinking of sponsoring one of the remaining categories, I’d say go for it – it’s definitely worthwhile. We take every opportunity to support independent brands – that’s what it’s all about for us – and the awards do just that. They give a real boost to the area, and sponsoring them can give your business a real boost too.”

The overall awards sponsor is Harrogate estate agent Verity Frearson, and the other individual category sponsors are:

CNG Ltd – Community Initiative of the Year

Yorkshire Agricultural Society – Best Rural Business

Rudding Park– Tourism Award

Berwins Solicitors – Employer of the Year

Harrogate Borough Council – Sustainability Award

Leathers the Accountants – Best Family-Run Business

Si Recruitment – Best SME (under 50 employees)

Cicada Communications – Business of the Year
