Shoppers queue through the night for opening of Ripon's new Aldi

Dedicated shoppers in Ripon queued through the night waiting for Olympic gold medallist Jack Laugher to open the doors to the city's new Aldi store this morning, November 24.

Golden envelopes were given to the first 100 people in the queue, each containing a prize. Lucky customers won a variety of prizes including Garmin Sat Navs and Espresso Makers.

Joining Jack Laugher to open the store on Stonebridgegate was Aldi Store Manager Clare Vause, and representatives from Ripon Community Link also attended to receive a £500 donation from Aldi towards their work in the community.

Following a six month build project, the Ripon store has created 35 jobs in the local area.

Aldi Store Manager Clare Vause said: “There was a great buzz at the store this morning, and we were pleased to welcome Jack Laugher to cut the ribbon.

"We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy the event and we hope our customers really took advantage of our opening week deals.”
