The new small industrial units, which will total 24,000 sq ft, follow news that the estate is to construct a new 62,925 sq ft distribution depot next year for drinks distributer Matthew Clark Wholesale.

The latest units will comprise four adjoining units of 3,000 sq ft each and three of 4,000 sq ft, all with loading doors, offices and mains services including superfast broadband. They are expected to be ready in June 2016.

Wharfedale Property Management, which manages the estate for owner Rockspring Hanover Property Unit Trust, said that a 12,800 sq ft office and laboratory would also be built for biotechnology company Avacta Group plc.

Tim Munns, director of Wharfedale Property Management, said: “In 2015 we have helped 26 companies set up or relocate here from nearby towns and cities and an additional nine existing tenants have expanded to new premises on the estate.”

The Thorp Arch Estate is home to more than 140 businesses, employing more than 1,800 people.
