New app to serve Wetherby in lockdown

Jamie Hullah and Angus Taylor, who own Walton-based Touch Telecom, are working with Leeds-based dscvr to launch the new service.

“The dscvr app was designed and set up by dscvr as a simple, single platform where local residents and visitors can stay up to date with what’s going on in the community whilst championing the local businesses on our very own high street,” explained Jamie.

“The app can be personalised ensuring you get the content you want, is location based and very easy to use!

“It also provides the user with a full range of online services which will safeguard the mental and physical health of the community by showcasing hundreds of ideas to keep residents healthy and entertained safely at home including sections on fitness, wellbeing, performing arts, art, classical Music and much more.”

Jame explained that there would normally be a monthly charge for businesses to advertise their services on the app.

“But due to the Covid19 pandemic the decision was taken to allow businesses affected by the pandemic the opportunity to advertise for free,” he added.

“We understand most businesses in Wetherby have had to change their business model in some way whether that be providing a collection or delivery service which we are keen to support.”

Jamie added that he and business partner Angus work to provide a full range of communication services from their company.

He added: “We are both from and still live in Wetherby, consequently we are passionate about supporting the local community.

“The best example of this is the free community WiFi service we launched in partnership with Wetherby Town Council and Intechnology Smarter Cities last year.”

The app can be downloaded on Apple and Android devices free of charge and can be found searching for dscvr.
