The brand-new 107-bedroom property on Springfield Avenue, near the long-established Majestic Hotel, is Premier Inn’s 688th hotel. It will provide 33 jobs, as well as contributing an estimated £6.7m to the local economy.

The hotel is working closely with Jobcentre Plus and Harrogate College to prepare young people in Yorkshire for the workplace. It plans to continue supporting youth employment in the area by working locally with schools to show the breadth of career opportunities in hospitality.

Team GB cyclist Philip Hindes inspired local school pupils and Premier Inn team members with his sporting journey at the opening event in Harrogate, where cycling fever has not yet died down since the Tour de France passed through in the summer.

Speaking of his triumph at the 2012 Olympic Games, he described what it was like to race in front of passionate home supporters, and how his training for the defence of his title in 2016 is progressing.
