Thompsons Auctioneers, in Killinghall, Harrogate, will open bidding for a range of collectables, pictures, antique and contemporary furniture and pottery at 10am tomorrow (Friday).

Its last scheduled auction on March 20 was cancelled, and director Kate Higgins admitted she is nervous about how the event will go.

Mrs Higgins said: “Like a lot of businesses we’re nervous about opening because we’ve had to completely restructure our working time.”

She added: “It’s an unknown - we don’t know what’s going to happen, we don’t know how many people are going to bid.

“We’re glad to be reopening, we’ve been closed for three months, but we don’t know how it’s going to work.”

Saleroom manager Michael Johnson and colleague Laura Devaney will host the sale using the Easy Live Auction website.

The saleroom itself cannot accommodate social distancing guidelines, so members of the public have been given longer to view the items and customers were asked to wear face coverings and disposable gloves.
