Harrogate hotels offering a good choice to visitors

Harrogate’s hotels now have more than 2,000 bedrooms for visitors to choose from after two new hotels opened in recent weeks.

West Park hotel opened earlier this month after a multi-million pound revamp of the former Victorian coach house on West Park, and a new 107 bedroomed Premier Inn opened its doors over the summer.

Mike Newby, director of the district’s tourism organisation Visit Harrogate said: “We welcome the new additions to the accommodation selection in the town.

“The town has something to offer to everyone, from B&Bs to large luxury hotels and budget hotels.

“We have got two new kinds of hotel in the town, which can only be a good thing. The bigger the choice the more likely people are to find somewhere they want to stay which will encourage them to visit and see all of the things that Harrogate has to offer.

“As a tourist town we need to keep developing with new things all the time, we cannot just sit back and rest on our laurels.”

Harrogate International Centre’s (HIC) director, Simon Kent welcomed the new additions to Harrogate’s hotel scene and said the hotels will offer a boost the town’s conference industry.

He said: “Obviously when you’re running a major event centre like HIC Yorkshire you’ve got to be confident that your delegates have quality accommodation to go back to at the end of a busy day.

“I have had a tour of each hotel and it’s great to see that both companies have put a lot of investment in making sure they have the very best facilities. Both Provenance Inns and the Premier Inns group obviously have a great deal of confidence in Harrogate as a place they can do business.”

The HIC said it has been working to build links with hotels in Harrogate in recent months. HIC sales manager, Rebecca Turnbull said: “It’s good for us to have a recognised brand like Premier Inn right on our doorstep.”
