Harrogate hotel permanently closes in wake of Covid hardship

The four-star hotel has been operating for more than 50 years and has been a key part of Harrogate's tourism sector.

Hide AdBut it has now confirmed it has been placed in a financial situation it 'cannot recover from' during the Covid-19 crisis and will not be reopening.
A post on its website reads: "After 13 years working together, it comes with a heavy heart , that we have to tell all our Loyal Guests and Friends that due to the financial position caused by Covid-19 we have to close the hotel.
"We sincerely thank everyone, customers and staff alike that have supported us over the years and regret deeply that Covid-19 placed us in a situation that we cannot recover from."
The news comes as B&Bs and guest houses across the district have called for more support to help them survive what will inevitably be a difficult winter.

Hide AdAs Harrogate is currently under Tier 2 restrictions, hotels are allowed to open but guests can only travel with those in their household or support bubble, and accommodation providers say they have seen a sharp decline in bookings compared to previous Decembers.
With Harrogate Convention Centre, which sits on the same road as the Kimberley Hotel, currently being used as a Nightingale hospital and Harrogate Christmas Market no longer taking place this year, hoteliers are expecting a much quieter winter than usual.
The Kimberley Hotel says all enquiries should be directed to insolvency company Booth & Co.
