Peter Banks, Rudding Park's managing director, said: "Following the latest Government announcement, sadly Rudding Park will temporarily close from Thursday 5 November.

"These new lockdown measures are subject to Parliamentary approval, however on a positive note, based on government guidelines we will be able to re-open on Thursday, December 3 so it's not too long to wait."

Anyone who had already booked a stay at the prestigious Rudding Park is now advised to await contact from the hotel.

Mr Banks said: "If anyone has a booking between Wednesday, November 4 (overnight stay) and Wednesday, December 2, we will be in contact over the next few days regarding your booking.

"Please be patient whilst we get in touch as we are working in arrival date order and prioritising guests who planned to visit Rudding Park this week."

Mr Banks added that he was grateful to all of the hotel's guests and was looking forward to welcoming them back.

He said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being so supportive.

"Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Rudding Park when we reopen just in time for Christmas so we can extend a warm welcome once again."
