Harrogate home care team braves heatwave on 45km walk raising over £1300 for charities
A team from a home care company in Harrogate has completed a gruelling 45km sponsored walk, raising more than £1,300 for charities supporting older people across the region.
Fifteen members of staff from Radfield Home Care Harrogate & North Yorkshire and North Leeds & Ilkley took part in the challenge, setting off from the company’s office in Harrogate before making their way to the Guiseley branch via the Cow and Calf on Ilkley Moor.
The route covered approximately 45 kilometres and took place during one of the hottest days of the year so far, with temperatures reaching around 26°C.
The walk was organised to raise money for two longstanding community partners – Supporting Older People in Harrogate and Guiseley Senior Citizens.

Representatives from both organisations joined the walkers for part of the journey, including Candy and Pete from Guiseley Senior Citizens and Kate from Supporting Older People Harrogate.
More than £1,300 has already been raised through the fundraiser, with donations continuing to come in.
The proceeds will be shared equally between the two charities to help fund activities, events and support services aimed at reducing loneliness and helping older people stay connected within their communities.
Nathan Evans, Business Development Manager at Radfield Home Care, said: "It was certainly more of a challenge than we expected.
"Climbing up Ilkley Moor in 26-degree heat is not something I'd recommend in a hurry.
“However, we're incredibly proud of what the team achieved.
"More importantly, we've raised a significant amount of money for two charities that make a genuine difference to older people's lives every day.
"Having spent time with both organisations over the past year, I've seen first-hand the impact they have on reducing loneliness, creating friendships and helping people stay connected to their communities."
The event forms part of Radfield Home Care's ongoing commitment to supporting local organisations and strengthening community connections across Harrogate, North Yorkshire and North Leeds.
Nathan added: "We'd like to thank everyone who donated, shared the fundraiser, supported us along the route and helped make the day possible.
"The community support has been fantastic and every donation will help these charities continue their valuable work."
