The free event, at the Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate from 5.30 to 8.30pm, is the first of a series of business education events planned by organiser ELS Media, a young web development and digital marketing company based in Harrogate.

The idea to invite Google to Harrogate came when ELS Media founders Charles Sellers and Andrew Strugnell visiting the Google Digital Garage in April. They were both so impressed that they decided to try to bring the concept of digital education and support for local businesses to Harrogate.

After months of trying to contact Google to explain their vision, their persistence paid off.

Business development manager Andrew Strugnell, who is also events manager of the #HarrogateDigital initiative, said: “Have you ever googled ‘How do I phone Google’? It proved very difficult, but here at ELS Media, where there’s a will there’s a way. I’m very excited to launch the first of many digital events with such a high-profile guest speaker!

“We are already in talks with Virgin and one of the leading social media networks for future events... Watch this space.”
