Farm shop in deal to supply local produce
Two businesses have launched a new fresh food brand in the run-up to Christmas.
Having worked together for the past four years, The Local Pantry, near Huby, and the Crimple Valley Greengrocer have now agreed an exclusive supply deal which will see all the fruit and vegetables in the shop, kitchen and café sold through its new Crimple Valley Fresh’ greengrocer.
Suzannah Hepworth, owner of The Local Pantry, said: “We are two local businesses that can work together and support one another.
“We are keen to offer a real alternative to the large supermarket chains that for so many years have squeezed out independent local shops and placed increasing demands on farmers and producers.”
Steve Willis of Crimple Valley Fresh built his business as a tenant farmer at Fulwith Mill Farm, Harrogate. He started a home delivery business supplying local produce and set up a fresh fruit and veg outlet at Pannal post office when the farm was sold.
He said: “Going up against the large discount stores has been a challenge. But this new relationship is a fantastic opportunity for us. Providing The Local Pantry with my produce is just what I need to expand my business without additional premises.”
This weekend on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday 22, The Local Pantry is hosting a ‘Taste of Christmas’ weekend where customers are invited to pop into the shop, sample some specially selected Christmas inspired treats and meet a variety of suppliers. There is also a special offer for those that place orders on the day.
