This will be the first networking event in Ripon organised by the voluntary mentoring group since it launched its Ripon chapter last month.

Over 20 business people from the Ripon area have so far pledged to support SREG in the development of a local mentoring hub.

The Calendar Girls’ story of a group Yorkshire Women’s Institute members who shocked the WI – and most of the country – by posing naked for a calendar to raise money for leukaemia research became a media phenomenon.

Calendar Girls became a film, a book, a hugely successful musical and an international brand that continues to raise money for charity.

The Calendar Girls brand is carefully stewarded for fundraising by Tricia Stewart, amongst others, and as a result she has become an entrepreneur, media celebrity and inspirational speaker.

She will talk to SREG guests about her steep learning curve over the past 16 years and what it takes to manage and maintain control of a successful
international business.

Andy Barton, chief executive of SREG, said that since SREG was founded in 2010, similar networking events in Skipton had become popular with local business leaders.

“The events have helped to attract new mentors to offer their services as well as local businesses to join SREG and learn more about the benefits of having a mentor,” he said.

“We hope to have the same success in Ripon and look forward to seeing business owners and directors at the Calendar Girls event.”

The event will take place at Newby Hall on Wednesday, November 11, from 8.30am to 10am and is open to business-owners and senior directors of businesses in Ripon and the surrounding area.
