Mike Catt OBE, who earned 75 international caps and played in two World Cups, winning it in 2003, took part in a training session with staff and members, before taking part in a question and answer session with invited guests.

Mr Catt’s visit to The Academy was hosted by the club’s bankers, Yorkshire Bank, and followed a breakfast briefing with local businesspeople.

Describing herself as “a huge rugby fan”, Academy Health Club managing director Philippa Shackleton said: “Mike’s workout with the team and members – in which he demonstrated his high fitness level – was followed by a meet and greet session with guests, who then spent an hour firing questions at him, which were centred around his illustrious sporting career and England’s chances in the forthcoming Rugby Union World Cup.”

Yorkshire Bank commercial relationship manager Jeremy Bowers said the bank was delighted to facilitate the visit to The Academy, which he said was a valued customer.
