Despite enjoying ‘tremendous support’ in Harrogate since opening, the small business announced their decision to close in their newsletter released today (March 6).

The company expressed their sadness at having to close the store as they had established a ‘great connection’ with the local people, according to an employee.

A statement on the newsletter read: “Being a small business and running this wonderful company brings us so much joy, but in amongst this there are sometimes difficult choices to make.

“Although we have had tremendous support from our Harrogate customers we feel that two shops, along with our global travels with our Titus yarn, means we are simply not giving our best to all parts of the business.

“We are very sad to close the store and it has been a very hard decision to make, but we hope it will make the rest of baa ram ewe an even better experience for everyone.”

The company paid special thanks to their Harrogate staff members including Graeme Knowles-Miller who stressed this would not mean the end for Baa Ram Ewe.

He said: “There are people who don’t just come in to the shop to buy things, they also sit, have a chat and do their knitting.

“We always get compliments on the store but it’s not the end of Baa Ram Ewe. It’s nothing to do with our income or a lack of support in the shop. Sometimes things just don’t work out.

“We want to remind people that we are not closing the company. We will still be in Chapel Allerton and we will still be at all of the trade shows.”
