Aldi to recruit dozens more staff across area
Aldi has said it needs to recruit dozens of new employees for its stores across the area due to continued expansion.
The supermarket is looking for 32 store assistants and six deputy store managers for its stores in Harrogate and Thirsk, and its newly opened store in Ripon.
Candidates with numeracy skills are being targeted for Aldi’s store assistant positions, to carry out responsibilities including till operation, stock management and merchandising.
Full training will be provided over a four-week period, and store assistant roles are available from 15 to 30 hours a week, with salaries starting at £8.40 per hour, rising to £10 and a realistic prospect of progression.
Deputy store managers are expected to work closely with the store manager and assistant store manager and have the responsibility of managing the store team in their absence.
Deputy store manager roles start from 30 hours per week, with a starting salary of £9.40 per hour rising to £11.00 per hour, plus £4.00 extra per hour when managing the store.
Steve Barnett, Aldi regional managing director, said: “Our new Harrogate store has proved very popular with the local community, and this, as well as our new store in Ripon has created a need for a significant number of store staff.
“We are looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant experience, a passion for retail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.”
All Aldi UK employees now receive a new minimum rate of £8.40 per hour, regardless of their age. According to Aldi, the new rate is “significantly higher than the hourly pay offered by all other British supermarkets”.
