Will Harrogate band step into Foos’ shoes at Glastonbury?

Now that world famous rock group Foo Fighters have been forced to cancel their headline slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival thanks to injury, will Harrogate’s UK Foo Fighters step into the breach.

That’s the question fans of Jay Apperley (lead vocals and guitar), Jamie Valentine (lead guitar), Arron Warner (bass) and Alex Bailey (drums) are asking.

Jay would be the ideal man, in fact. Not only is he leader of Britain’s top Foo Fighters tribute band, he’s actually sung on stage with Dave Grohl recently.

Sadly, the real thing is unavailable after he fell off stage at a concert in Sweden, fracturing his leg.

Not only has that fracture caused the Foo Fighters to pull out of Glastonbury Festival, the band has also cancelled dates in Belgium, and at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and London’s Wembley Stadium.

Grohl has apologised to fans, saying it was “just not physically possible” for him to perform - and that’s ioctors orders, reportedly.

As for Harrogate heroes UK Foo Fighters, they’re accustomed to performing in 02 Academy venues and Jay took over lead vocals from Dave Grohl and the Foos last year at a gig in Brighton.

But how would the UK Foo Fighters fare on a stage as big as Glastonbury?

The Harrogate Advertiser, for one, thinks they’d be brilliant at it.
