Stewart Lee’s tasty stew of comedy at Harrogate

One of the UK’s top comics is coming to Harrogate next week.

Appearing at the Royal Hall next Wednesday, Stewart Lee’s new show is called A Room With A Stew and features all-new fresh material.

Described by the Daily Mirror as the “best comedian in Britain”, his sharply provocative style also attracts detractors as well as admirers.

Having first made his name in the mid-1990s as one half of popular radio and TV duo Lee and Herring, his new tour will also see him preparing for the next series of his hit BBC 2 series Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle.

Never a man to be afraid of taking on controversial material, Lee co-wrote and co-directed the mock Broadway hit Jerry Springer: The Opera, a critical success that sparked a backlash from Christian groups who staged a series of protests outside its early stagings.

This Shropshire-born comic has also written several books, including How I Escaped My Certain Fate – The Life and Deaths of a Stand-Up Comedian which was published successfully by Faber & Faber.
