This year’s Harrogate Comedy Festival has a new coup which should certainly strengthen Harrogate’s reputation as ‘comedy capital of the north’ - Sarah Millican is coming!

Organised by Harrogate Theatre, the seventh annual fortnight of laughs has been programmed specifically to explore the breadth of comedy performance.

As well as sketch and stand-up, this year’s festival will also offer sock puppets, magic, cabaret, film, beatboxing, storytelling, and even ventriloquism.

There are stars aplenty, from Jimmy Carr to Tim Brooke-Taylor, but none is likely to outshine Geordie favourite Sarah Millican who stars in one of two special launch events held at Harrogate Theatre in conjunction with online women’s magazine Standard Issue.

To be held on Monday, October 5, In Conversation with Standard Issue will see a panel of Bridget Christie, Katherine Ryan, Susan Calman and Sarah Millican talking about comedy, feminism and more.

The second event, Standard Issue on… Alien combines a screening of James Cameron’s classic sci-fi movie with stand-up Hannah Dunleavy and guests providing running commentary.
