Ha! Coup for Sitting Room comedy club in Harrogate
By Graham Chalmers
Independent and popular, Sitting Room Comedy Club returns to the St George Hotel in Harrogate next week with another great line-up.
Wednesday , January 15 will see the amazing Simon Evans, part of this country’s stand-up elite, being joined by John Scott, rising star Jonny Pelham and Sitting Room favourite, Scott Bennett as host.
Promoter and Harrogate Advertiser columnist Tom Taylor said: “We had a great programme of shows last year. We’re lucky enough to attract a really great audience and top quality acts are so keen to come and play Sitting Room.
“It’s an honour and a rare treat to have Simon Evans perform a club set in the north.”
Simon is one of the most exciting and distinctive talents on the comedy circuit. He plays the condescending ex-public schoolboy with delight and is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4 as a regular on The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth and Armando Iannucci’s Charm Offensive.
Simon has also appeared on numerous TV shows including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and Stand Up for the Week.
He is also the writer of choice for Dara O’Briain, Sean Lock, Jimmy Carr, Marcus Brigstocke and Lee Mack among others.
John Scott and Jonny Pelham take this month’s support slots.
John has been a member of the comedy sketch troupe Fish Supper alongside Miles Jupp, won Foster’s Take the Mike competition and was also awarded the Spike Milligan Award for New Talent.
Jonny Pelham is one of the most talked about new acts in the country.
