But, as a gallery which effortlessy breaks down barriers between pop and Pop Art, the gallery is holding a VIP event with Horace Panter at Major Tom’s Social in Harrogate the night before.

An invitation only ‘do’, The Specials man will be answering questions in person about his latest work.

Myth America features Panter’s paintings of street signs and diners, ubiquitous cultural landmarks that reflect his early interest in artists like Edward Hopper, David Hockney and Robert Rauschenberg

Music fans may not be aware that Panter, known in the band as Sir Horace Gentleman, was an artist before he was a musician.

It was while studying for a degree in Fine Art at Coventry’s Lanchester Polytechnic in 1975 that the musician first met Jerry Dammers.
