For fans of 60s-influenced pop and modern British guitar bands, a major live music event at Major Tom’s in Harrogate promises to be a night to remember in a few weeks’ time.

Leading live music night Charm nights returned earlier in the year after an eight-year gap with a packed crowd, a stunning performance by art rockers Cowtown and swirling psychedelic lights courtesy of VJ Quadrod.

It’s back again for ‘The Second Summer of Charm’ night on Thursday, June 11 with top headliners The Seagulls boasting strong songwriting skills, a 60’s psychedelic sound and British rock ‘n’ roll vibe.

As if to prove their quirky pop credentials, this five-piece guitar band from Leeds are fresh from supporting late 70s cult band The Monochrome Set at a show in London.

After a string of strong singles, Girl You Must Be Dreaming, The Seagulls’ latest single on indie label Sandtrap Records, has also been receiving rave reviews.

Consisting of Dominic Richmond (guitar/lead vocals), Jon Richmond (guitar/vocals), Nick Richmond (keyboards/vocals), Alex Fells (bass/vocals) and Sam Wainwright (drums/vocals), this self-proclaimed modern pop troupe also feature interesting vocal harmonies, an instantly recognisable guitar sound and lyrics touching on the weird, dark and slightly unusual.

The band themselves cite their influences - both musical and literary - as The Beatles, The Kinks, Scott Walker, Lee Hazelwood, Conor Oberst, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, Stone Roses, The Jam, Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady and My Morning Jacket.
