Artists’ entries are flooding in from across Britain for an exciting new showcase based at Morphets in Harrogate for all types of contemporary art. But anyone interested had better be quick - the deadline arrives very soon!

Platform Open Art Exhibition will present the best contemporary art of all genres, allowing art lovers the opportunity to buy unique pieces while raising money for the NSPCC.

To be held at Morphets of Harrogate auctioneers, there’s just time for artists to submit online entries before the deadline tomorrow, Friday, September 4.

It’s possible to judge the scale of this new contest by some of the artists who’ve entered so far, names like Enzo Marra, painter, from London; Karen Thompson, ceramist, from Scarborough and Chloe Holt, painter from Chester.

Artists can submit up to three pieces for free at the weekend exhibition from October 2-4.

The idea, says Platform One’s founder, artist Heidi Donohoe, is to hold an annual event in a non-conventional space which is equally good for artists and audiences.

“I wantes to work in Harrogate but highlight work across the UK to stage an open exhibition that is a selling one and has a competition element but one that conveys the excitement of visionary works of art.”

Heidi, former course leader at Harrogate School of Art and Design and graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, is hoping this non-profit exhibition will encourage what is distinctive in art, as well as supporting charity,

The NSPCC’s fundraiser said: “The NSPCC welcomes new and innovative ways to raise money and we are delighted that Platform Open is taking place at Morphets.”

Artists are invited to submit work from a wide range of media including painting, drawing, photography, film, printmaking, textiles, ceramics and glass.
