It not only has a new bar, a new look, a new stage - it has a new location and it’s now bigger.

Fibbers was originally launched by legendary music promoter Tim Hornsby in 1992 at Stonebow House.

The spiritual home of Shed Seven, among the other big names who performed in this intimate 450-capacity venue are The Killers, Funeral for a Friend, Stereophonics, Jake Bugg. It’s also been rumoured that both Oasis and Coldplay appeared as support acts in their early says.

Now situated at Toft Green; (still very central), with a capacity of 860, the venue has been designed to improve the experience for music lovers and players with two rooms on one floor, 50 additional staff, state-of-the-art sound and light systems and improved sight-lines for audiences.

And the other good news is that Tim is back at the helm, booking the acts for the new-style Fibbers.

Forthcoming shows include global superstar D.J Jazzy Jeff on October 15, The Subways, The Orb and The Ginger Wildheart Band. Comedian Dapper Laughs is also set to appear, ahead of his new TV show on ITV2.

Tim said: “This move is such good news, for music lovers and for York. It’s also a bonus that we’ve moved next door to a brand new Bavarian bier keller, too!”
