New Bedale event offers best of food and music

The organisers of successful annual acoustic music event BAMfest are about to launch the first Mad March weekend next week.

A two-day music gathering highlighting many up-and coming musicians, this new venture in the market town is keen to show it’s about more than just good sounds.

It will also offer good food and drink with a Yorkshire Beer Festival and Yorkshire Food Festival.

Organiser John Knighton said:” The event is an opportunity to sample what’s great about Yorkshire - be it music, food or beer.

“We are lucky to have the Bedale Community Bakery on site, providing top quality bread and cakes - and their infamous scones.

“When it comes to local ales we are spoilt for choice with brewers from Northallerton, Masham and beyond.”

Mad March weekend will be held on Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21 at Aiskew Watermill in Bedale.

The live music will include Rita Payne, Aelfen and The Alligators, Fireside Nights, The Nick Rooke Band, Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby.

This new event will also act as a ‘taster’ for this year’s BAMfest which runs from May 29-31 and stars Martin Stephenson and the Daintees, Henry Priestman and The Duncan McFarlane Band.

Organiser John Knighton, said: “This weekend is to give musicians the opportunity to perform in our Festival bar. Hopefully this will get everyone in the mood for BAMfest.”
