Music fans flocking to Bedale for BAMfest this weekend

The town of Bedale is welcoming hundreds of visitors from across the north east to the market town near Ripon as the third BAMfest serves up a feast of entertainment across the weekend.

BAMfest – Bedale Acoustic Music Festival – is a three-day acoustic music event which started on Friday, May 29 which features more than 60 acts in concerts, in pubs, and on streets.

Visitors from across the UK will be staying at the Festival campsite at Big Sheep Little Cow Farm, which will be at the heart of this popular music event.

Two marquees will be erected at Big Sheep Little Cow – a main 250-seat marquee will house main concerts across the weekend featuring acts such as BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Band The Young’uns plus Martin Stephenson and The Daintees, Blackbeard’s Tea Party, Henry Priestman, and Rod Clements from Lindisfarne.

New for 2015 is the introduction of a Farm Stage featuring a wide mix of music.

Carol Clark, chairman of BAMfest, said: “The BAMfest Committee has worked extremely hard over the past 12 months to ensure the third Festival is a huge success. We have lots of local volunteers who are helping us this year for which we are truly grateful.”

Other marquees will host children’s activities which will be taking place this Saturday from 10am and 4pm and feature drama, drumming, ukulele and crafty workshops.

Three of the town’s pubs will feature music during the Festival - The Green Dragon, The White Bear and The Three Coopers as part of a Festival Extra.

The Festival bar itself will serve beers supplied by BAMfest’s main sponsor, the Masham-based brewer T&R Theakston. A cider bar, run by Orchards of Husthwaite, will also be a new feature.
