It may be the early days of a brand new year but there’s still plenty of pantomime fun to be had in the Harrogate district over the next week or so.

Harrogate Theatre’s hit version of Cinderella continues its successful run while Knaresborough Players are all set to launch their production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Fans of Prince Charming; Buttons, the Fairy Godmother and the Ugly Sisters can still get tickets for Cinderella at Harrogate Theatre before it finishes on January 18.

Co-written by the theatre’s own David Bown and Phil Lowe, this classic panto stars local legend Tim Stedman in his 15th year at Harrogate.

Joining the cast as titular heroine Cinderella is Lucy Jane Quinlan who is no stranger to Harrogate Theatre having performed there in Dick Whittington in 2009/10.

Meanwhile, Knaresborough Players return to Frazer Theatre for what will be their 51st panto.

Directed by Nigel Morgan, and with a large cast, Jack and the Beanstalk promises music, laughter and plenty of the usual opportunities to cheer the goodies and sneer at the baddies.

The well-known folk tale is followed closely in outline, but with many original touches.

The legend of the Sword in the Stone is reflected in Jack’s method of obtaining the magic sword.

The Dame has a tremendous fight with the Giant’s evil henchman while the Vegetable Fairy is certainly an original creation for the traditional Power of Good!
