Kasiuss to rock Monteys and help Peter Williams Fund

Monteys in Harrogate is to hold an all-day charity music event this weekend with local bands to help a much-loved Harrogate man combat an incredibly rare form of cancer.

Among the highlights tomorrow, Sunday, July 26 from 3pm until late in an event designed to raise money for the Peter Williams Donation Fund will be rejuvenated Harrogate rock band Kasiuss led by the popular Biz Denton and Day Old Hate whose video for recent release Living Without You received more than 10,000 views.

It’s hoped Sunday’s music extravaganza at Monteys on The Ginnel off Parliament Street will push the appeal closer to its £30,000 target.

That’s the figure required to get treatment for Harrogate man Peter who is suffering from Chordoma, a rare type of bone cancer which affects only 20 people in the world each year.

His son, James, said: “Specialists have given my dad no other option than Proton Beam Therapy but there’s no guarantee the NHS would fund his treatment.

“My dad is dealing with this amazingly well but we need to get him as soon as possible to Italy for private treatment.”

People have been rallying around amazingly well so far for the appeal which has raised nearly £15,000 to date.

“The cancer affects the brain and the spine but my dad is possibly one of the strongest people I have ever met.

“He is crazy about his grandchildren Josh and Ashleigh and he is also very fond of his two dogs, Bailey and Cody.”

Sunday’s free event, which includes an art sale, a prize raffle, cocktails and barbecue food, will also feature live music from Zoe Dixon, Jamie Bevan, Stiletto Farm and Josh Ozturk.

Peter’s son James said if the NHS did go ahead with funding for his dad’s treatment, all funds raised in the Peter Williams Donation Fund appeal would then go to the charity Chordoma UK.
