Iconic singer Bryan Ferry announces Harrogate date
Iconic singer/songwriter Bryan Ferry will play Harrogate International Centre as part of a 20-date UK tour.
The Let’s Stick Together singer, who performed at the Glastonbury and Coachella festivals this year, will play the 2,000-seat venue on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
It is the first major name announced to play the venue as part of a collaboration with Harrogate Theatre.
The tour will take in London’s Royal Albert Hall and the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.
His only other Yorkshire date is at Bridlington Spa.
The set list is expected to feature Roxy Music and solo hits.
HIC Director Simon Kent said: “Bryan Ferry is a world-class act and it’s a real privilege to welcome him to the International Centre.
“I know there was a flurry of excitement on social media when this gig was announced and we are hoping for a sell-out show.
“We’ve been working hard with Harrogate Theatre and the team over at Harrogate Festivals to bring more entertainment of this calibre to our main auditorium and hopefully there will be more big names announced over the coming months.”
Tyne and Wear-born Bryan Ferry, 69, first tasted success as the singer with band Roxy Music.
His solo tracks include Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Don’t Stop the Dance and I Put a Spell on You.
He has released 14 solo studio albums to date, with the 15th, Avonmore, due for release this November.
It has been reported that tribes living on the Congo river ‘worship’ the singer.
Tickets on sale tomorrow (Friday), from 10am.

The HIC this year became the fourth venue to feature Harrogate Theatre programming, joining the theatre’s main house, studio space and the Royal Hall.
Together, the spaces offer 3,560 seats.
In August, hundreds queued outside the theatre box office to get tickets for a Michael McIntyre gig, which was played at the 500-seat theatre.
