Every year Harrogate Theatre’s panto makes a massive contribution to it financial well-being and this year’s one is enjoying another fairy tale success.

With only a few days to go before Cinderella stops going to the ball in this year’s run, the theatre’s chief executive has declared it the biggest panto hit yet.

David Bown, who co-wrote the show with director Phil Lowe, said attendances had surpassed all targets.

He said: “This year’s panto has had a phenomenal response. From the sell-out opening night right through to the new year, there hasn’t been a spare seat in the house.

“Audience feedback has been telling us it’s our best panto ever.”

It’s an assessment shared by the star of Cinderalla, local legend Tim Stedman who stars as Buttons in what has been his 15th year at Harrogate.

Tim said: “The pantomime this year has been wonderful fun. Packed, laughing houses, a talented cast and the enthusiastic team at the theatre has made it very special.

“I’m lucky to perform in such a great pantomime and Harrogate’s a lucky town in having such a great source of entertainment for all the family.”

As well as the ever-popular Tim Stedman, fans of Prince Charming; Buttons, the Fairy Godmother and the Ugly Sisters have been enjoying the performance of Lucy Jane Quinlan in the title role of Cinderella.

The theatre’s chief executive praised the whole team, particularly his co-writer.

David said: “Phil Lowe and his team have created such a magical spectacle. It’s been great to see everyone leave with a smile on their faces.”

Joining the cast as titular heroine Cinderella is Lucy Jane Quinlan who is no stranger to Harrogate Theatre having performed there in Dick Whittington in 2009/10.

Reviews have also been good, too, even from the regional press outside the district.

There are still a few tickets left for final few days of the panto which runs until this Sunday, January 18.
