Organisers have announced that UK Rail Tours are planning to run a tour to the this year’s Festival on its opening Saturday, August 1.

Passengers from down south, will be able to enjoy the matinee show of The Gondoliers and race back home straight afterwards - and all by train.

Gilbert & Sullivan’s last great success, The Gondoliers premiered at the Savoy Theatre on December 7, 1889 and is popular now as ever.

The G&S special will arrive at Harrogate from London via York at Harrogate at 12.30pm approximately - in good time for the show. Then, before they know it they will be back on the return train at 5.45pm approximately.

The 22nd International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival takes place in Harrogate at the Royal Hall and other venues from August 1-23.
