Georgian beauty - wildlife & landscapes by artist Emerson Mayes

Award-winning Nidderdale artist Emerson Mayes is bringing two of his greatest loves together in a new Harrogate exhibition - landscape and wildlife.

‘In William’s Footsteps’ at 108 Fine Art gallery on Cold Bath Road in Harrogate is the result of a year walking by the artist between Studley Royal, Laver Banks and Hackfall Woods.

Emerson’s observations of both the wilderness of the natural landscape and the formal parklands of North Yorkshire such as Studley Royal and Fountain’s Abbey capture what is essentially the true character and beauty of the Dales and its wildlife.

It’s title refers to William Aislabie who created and shaped the Georgian gardens at both Studley Royal and Hackfall Woods, while nearly doing the same for Laver Banks.

The exhibition runs from October 18 to November 8 .

The exhibition will also include a select group of wildlife bronze sculpture by Sally Arnup, prior to a major retrospective of her work at 108 in spring 2015.
