Drivetime radio joy for Harrogate DJ Pete Allison

Harrogate DJ Pete Allison has landed his dream job - presenting the drivetime show on a major station.

Former St Aidan’s CE High School student Pete - whose family live in Harrogate - will begin presenting Drive on Capital Yorkshire from Monday, October 13.

Cock-a-hoop Pete told the Harrogate Advertiser he was delighted.

The recently announced ReelWorld Radio Academy 30 under 30 member said: “It’s a dream job for me and I’m very excited.

“I have spent two years in London, but I have a good relationship with the people at Capital Yorkshire.”

Pete has spent the last two years in London working at BBC Radio 1 and hosting programmes on the Absolute Radio stations.

He explained: “I’ve been doing night shifts for 18 months, so it’ll be a bit of a change to be on in the daylight!

“Drive is an amazing time of day to present, it is something I have wanted to do throughout my career.”

Alex Jungius, managing editor of Capital Yorkshire told RadioToday: “We’re delighted that Pete Allison, recently named in the ReelWorld Radio Academy’s ’30 Under 30′ list, is joining the Capital Yorkshire line-up. We look forward to Pete’s first drivetime show on October 13th.”

After leaving St Aidan’s in 2009, Pete studied broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University, where he won the Student Radio Award for Best Male Presenter.
