Bonfire Night: Where to watch in Harrogate

Firework fanatics will find it hard to forget Guy Fawkes and his gunpowder, treason and plot with the vast number of displays being held around Harrogate to celebrate this year’s Bonfire Night.

HARROGATE

Harrogate District Round Table will kick the spree of sparklers off on Saturday, November 1 with their 43rd annual charity bonfire and firework display with the build up beginning from 6pm.

The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm on Oatland’s Stray with the fireworks starting at 7.15pm. Once again, organisers have decided not to charge admission for the event but volunteers will be on hand collecting money for Henshaws society for blind people and HG1000, launched by St Mark’s Church.

l In Starbeck, Harrogate Railway AFC will mark the actual anniversary on Wednesday, November 5 with their professional Bonfire Bonanza at their Station View stadium.

Doors to the event will be opening at 6pm with the bonfire being lit 20 minutes later. The firework display will then begin at 7pm and the event is free for anyone to enter.

KNARESBOROUGH

Fireworks and Bonfire at the Village Hall, Whixley, on Saturday, November 1 from 6.30.

Hot and cold food will be available with all the village hall facilities. Free entry - donations welcome

l Knaresborough fire display - The cricket club fireworks display will take place on Wednesday, November 5.

Gates open at 6.30pm with fireworks at 7,30pm. There will be food available and the bar will be open. Duck Race tickets are now available from the bar.

l Fireworks and Bonfire at Scotton Cricket Club, Low Moor Lane Scotton, on Wednesday, November 5 from 6.30pm.

NIDDERDALE

The Upper Nidderdale Scout Group will host its Grand Bonfire and Fireworks at Pateley Bridge Showground on Saturday, November 8, by kind permission of the Nidderdale Agricultural Society.

Refreshments and Barbeque will be available with the fire lit at 6.30pm. Fireworks from 7pm.

RIPON DISTRICT

The Rotary Club of Ripon Rowels will be marking the celebration at Ripon Racecourse for the fifth consecutive year on Friday, November 7, with doors opening at 5.30pm and the bonfire being lit at 7pm by the MP for Ripon Julian Smith.

Families will be treated to the huge firework display at 7.30pm and the event will also boast children’s amusements and music from the students of Ripon Grammar School.

Tickets will cost £12 for a family, and £5 for adults and £2 for children buying in advance. Entry on the gate is £6 adults and children £3.

l The Masham bonfire and firework display will take place on Saturday, November 8 at the Masham Recreation Ground from 6.30pm.

l Tockwith and District Agricultural Society will also hold their bonfire night on November 5 as they hold a ‘best dressed guy’ competition with judges crowning a champion on the night.

The show will be held on Cattal Moor Lane with gates opening at 6pm and the competition 15 minutes later. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the firework display begins at 7pm.

Adults will be charged £4 for entry and children under 12 allowed in for free.

WETHERBY DISTRICT

The Wetherby Community Bonfire takes place at The Ings this Saturday, November 1, gates open 6pm with the bonfire lit at 7pm and fireworks starting at 7.30pm.

l The first Collingham Scout Group will hold their night of celebrations of Friday, November 7 next to the Scout Hut on Harewood Road in Collingham.

The fire will be lit at 6.30pm with the fireworks starting approximately half an hour later.

Tickets will cost £7 per family with extra adults at £3 and under 16’s £2.
