He’s been one of Harrogate’s most creative pop musicians for nearly 20 years - and he’s showing no signs of losing his edge any time soon - Dan Webster is about to release a new album by The Birdman Rallies.

Called Real River, fans can catch a preview of some of its 12 tracks when the band play at The Den in Harrogate tomorrow night, Friday.

Gig Scene has been lucky enough to have a sneak preview of Real River and it sounds a stunning new collection.

Dan’s always been a master of melody, ever since his slightly-punk pop three piece Wilma became the only Harrogate band ever to win Fibbers Battle of the Bands as a teeanger in the 1990s in front of a partisan York audience.

If the work ‘quirky’ was invented for Dan - and it could be applied to all his bands from Wilma to Flowered 3rd to Tigerbomb to The Birdman Rallies - then Real River takes that word to adventurous new heights.

Set for release on February 10, the album is the band’s first since 2012’s Moons and will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp etc, as well as some physical copies.

Dan will be joined at The Den by fellow Rallies members Adam Westerman (guitar/keys/drums/voice), Ash Johnson (bass) and Dave Armstrong (drums).
