New art gallery in Harrogate to raise awareness of autism

New delay for return of Harrogate's popular Parkrun as date is rescheduled

Based at 5 Cambridge Road, the Harrogate Upstairs Gallery was launched by artist Kevin George, (pictured) who was himself was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.

Since being diagnosed, his goal has been to raise awareness for autism as much as possible.

Kevin's work reflects all aspects of the human disposition and he hopes art by people with autism allows others to see their perspective and appreciate their different takes on the world.

The opening follows the success of Kevin’s previous exhibition Too Much Information.

The new gallery will exhibit his own personal style of work while also showcasing up and coming local artists.

Ten per cent of all its sales go to the National Autistic Society.

One of the major selling points of this gallery will be that, though there are some prints available, most of the pieces are all original one of a kind pieces that you would find nowhere else in the world.

As well as offering artwork to buy at the gallery, Kevin also does commission work for custom pieces.

The gallery will also showcase some photography pieces, adding to the eclectic mix of work on show.

HUG gallery is located on Cambridge Road above Harrogate Sports Trophies shop and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11am.
