Anita Bowerman, who first opened the doors of her Dove Tree Art Studio at Back Granville Road in Harrogate ten years ago, has created a new painting in watercolour and gouache inspired by the hill farmer, writer, photographer, public speaker and mother of nine children who has been seen by millions on ITV's The Dales.

Called The Yorkshire Shepherdess, The Hay Meadows in Summer at Ravenseat, Anita has turned her new artwork into a limited edition print - and a mug - signed by herself and Amanda Owen, aka The Yorkshire Shepherdess who has visited Anita's gallery in person.

The idyllic scene shows Amanda Owen at the height of summer in the ancient Hay Meadows with her nine children, animals, wildlife, insects and flowers and husband Clive on his tractor at their Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale.

Harrogate artist Anita Bowerman first become renowned for her popular papercuts, produced in stainless steel often, which helped her win her appointments as the official artist of the Tour de Yorkshire and an artist in residence at RHS Harlow Carr Gardens in Harrogate.

From her Harrogate gallery, a refurbished 19th century former coach house in the French Atelier style, she also won a commission to create an art installation consisting of 191 stainless-steel boots on a tree at Castle Howard for Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Although she has had to close her studio to the public for much if the time since the first lockdown, Anita had been busy painting and creating throughout the pandemic.

Her mug and signed Yorkshire Shepherdess prints are proving popular, as are the elephants and boxing hares - all being posted out during lockdown.

The elephants are proving particularly popular as a symbol of families struggling to get together during the pandemic.

Anita has been donating some of the proceeds to the Elephant Family Charity, which protects Asian wildlife and its habitat.

Anita is also planning to paint cherry blossom all over the outside of her studio at the end of April to coincide with the Stray cherry blossoms, an idea that seems to be catching on with Damien Hirst also focusing on cherry blossom at the moment.
