Acting legend Simon Callow for Harrogate Theatre

It’s not often an actor of legendary status treads the boards in our district but, for one night, only, Simon Callow is doing so at Harrogate Theatre next Monday, October 27.

With a CV to make your mouth water, this much-loved and incredibly powerful actor will be performing in the extraordinary one-man play The Man Jesus.

Written by Matthew Hurt and directed by Joseph Alford, Callow told The Independent recently that the figure of Jesus himself had fascinated him as a small boy, reading hundreds of books about the subject.

A compassionate portrayal, the play play looks back two thousand years to witness key moments in the life of ‘the man Jesus’.

Raised as a Catholic and very involved in the church as an altar servant, this acclaimed production is a million miles away from Callow’s roles in films like Four Weddings and a Funeral.

On a limited run after a successful launch at Belfast Lyric Theatre, The Man Jesus offers a rare chance to see a true legend on stage.
