HARROGATE Theatre’s new season is to start with a double treat for fans of playwright John Godber, including the launch of a new national tour.
The drama kicks off in the main auditorium when Reform Theatre present John Godber’s classic comedy Weekend Breaks from Thursday, September 15 to Saturday, September 17.
Meanwhile in the studio, Nick Lane directs Emmerdale star Matthew Booth in Rich Seams Theatre’s Company’s production of Godber’s Beef, from Tuesday, September 20 to Saturday, September 24.
Weekend Breaks, Godber’s classic portrayal of family life, will star Robert Angell whose television credits include Waterloo Road, plus Emmerdale actress Annie Sawle and Reform’s very own Keith Hukin.
Written in 1997, Godber’s classic comedy tells the tale of Martin, who has travelled to the Lake District to concentrate on writing his Hollywood blockbuster – with all the peace and quiet he could hope for, or so he thought.
But he’s also invited his parents along for a nice cosy weekend getaway.
What should have been an enjoyable weekend away soon takes a dramatic turn as revelations and pent-up family frustrations reveal themselves.
The second Godber production of Harrogate Theatre’s new season sees Hull Truck associate director Nick Lane directing Emmerdale star Matthew Booth in the funny and shocking one-man comedy Beef.
Opening its national tour at the Harrogate Theatre Studio from Tuesday, September 20 to Saturday, September 24, Beef tells the story of Dave, a young man who is struggling to better himself in a world that doesn’t seem to make sense.
