Moving into its 11th month, Sitting Room Comedy Club returns with one of the most respected comics working in Britain, building towards a first birthday show in July.
Next Wednesday, June 13 at the St George Hotel, Harrogate, star of the worldwide hit podcast, The Bugle, Andy Zaltzman, will be performing his solo show, Armchair Revolutionary.
Long time collaborator with John Oliver (of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart fame), the duo’s body of work includes satirical podcasts and radio broadcasts such as Political Animal, The Department and, notably, The Bugle which was initially distributed by TimesOnline.
Armchair Revolutionary is widely regarded as one of the funniest shows of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2011, a joke-packed journey encompassing revolutions, economic idiocy, political and social upheaval at home and around the globe.
Sitting Room promoter, Tom Taylor said: “Andy is acknowledged as the best satirical comic Britain has produced in the last two decades. His appearance on Russell Howard’s Good News is testament to that. He’s also is a brilliant catalyst to some fantastic comedy Sitting Room has coming up. On Wednesday, July 4 we are having our first birthday ‘party’ with Paul Sinha, one of our favourite headliner. Then, on Monday, July 23 we are delighted to be able to welcome back our first ever professional act and subsequent winner of ITV’s Show Me The Funny, Pat Monahan. We are proud to be working with the St George Hotel and Mind charity on that show, and all proceeds will go to Mind. Both shows in July are also part of the Harrogate International Festival Fringe which promises to be a great month for entertainment and the arts. Sitting Room is also collaborating with Harrogate International Festivals to bring some more comedy to Harrogate during the festival.”
Tickets for Andy Zaltzman: Armchair Revolutionary and other Sitting Room shows are available from St George Hotel, Harrogate Tourist Information Centre or www.sittingroomcomedy.com.
