Sitting Room Comedy Club, the creation of Harrogate student, Tom Taylor, returns with more mirth tomorrow, Wednesday, September 12 at the St George Hotel in Harrogate. After celebrating a whirlwind 12 months of laughter at their first birthday bash in July, Sitting Room’s second season kicks off in fine style with musical star of BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show, Mitch Benn.
Famed for countless television and radio appearances, including writer and arranger for The One Show’s Complaints Choir, Mitch Benn has quietly become one of the modern giants of musical comedy.
He’s simply one of the most sought-after acts on the comedy circuit and, widely acknowledged as one of the best writers and performers of comic songs in the country.
Opening act, Tom Allen, is no stranger to radio and television either. Co-writer of Radio 4’s The Correspondent and with a hilarious appearance on the Stephen K Amos Show next to his name, Tom also has an array of acting credits including the films Colour Me Kubrick and Starter for Ten.
Debonair and urbane, Tom Allen will be joined by the excitingly offbeat, Paul F Taylor. Regarded as one of the best joke writers to have emerged onto the circuit in the last few years, Paul’s strong material is enhanced by his natural confidence. A whirlwind of energy and beautifully crafted one liners, Paul has acted as tour support for Lucy Porter and was a finalist in the Laughing Horse New Act competition.
Tickets for the Sitting Room show next Wednesday at 8pm at the St George Hotel, Harrogate cost t £10 (advance) and £12 (door) and are available from www.sittingroomcomedy.com, Harrogate Tourist Information Centre or St George Hotel reception.
